“The Tremendous Tremendous is just that.”- L Magazine.

“They’re [The Mad Ones] a remarkable team: inventive, funny, and a consistent kick to watch.” - Backstage.com

“Watching The Tremendous Tremendous I felt as if I were hiding in a closet in the Marx Brothers’ dressing room and spying on them as they cavorted backstage, singing, drinking, one-upping, and goofing on each other after a particularly successful vaudeville turn. ” - Backstage.com

“The Tremendous Tremendous is a rich and rewarding work of theatre that transports its audience not only to the time and place where it unfolds but to other locations private and personal to each of us; it kind of magically casts a spell to bring you to a place in your own past where you felt something akin to what you’re witnessing on stage. The Mad Ones, who have only one (much acclaimed) previous credit, are definitely a company to watch.” - nytheatre.com

“Most narratives describe a rising arc. We’re so conditioned to that sense of a story moving upwards, building energy as it goes, that now the structure feels like an almost biological imperative. Inverting the pattern carries risks, so when The Mad Ones let The Tremendous Tremendous scoop instead of soar, the collective gambles with our attention. It’s true, there are moments in the real-time portrait of a troupe at rest that feel very long, almost slack. But wait until the end, and you’ll realize that all the little awkwardnesses, the seeming longeurs, have been carefully articulated in the service of a heartbreaking cumulative affect.” - Helen Shaw 4 STARS TimeOut New York.

“The Tremendous Tremendous is an engaging and entertaining evening spent with a type of traveling performer that rarely exists these days. It is a well-crafted, engrossing, and exciting piece that brings us into the dynamics of this troupe and also brilliantly captures the feeling of the time.” Theasy.com

“To say that The Tremendous Tremendous works brilliantly is an understatement. It’s so crisp, so clean, that it ceases to be a play at all and instead becomes a real moment in their lives…This isn’t only my favorite show I’ve seen this year so far, it’s one of my favorite shows I’ve seen in years. Make sure you see this show before it closes and, if the theatre Gods has any mercy at all, transfers to an Off Broadway house immediately and run indefinitely. It’s just that good. Sign me up for every single show from “The Mad Ones” from now on. Because if the rest of their future arsenal is anything remotely as good as this one, they’ve earned themselves a lifelong fan.”- bigvisionemptywallet.com

“They’re so loose, so utterly convincing, that you’ll feel like a time-traveling party-crashing voyeur (particularly in the intimate space)…In fact, everything about The Tremendous Tremendous feels authentic, from the type of popcorn they throw into one another’s mouths to Sydney Gallas’s brilliant costuming; from the silent projection of the World’s Fair they marvel over together to the lights studding their dressing-room mirror. Though the Mad Ones bring this aesthetic with them (they’re credited as producers and set designers), they’re aided by Jeffrey Withers, who, being primarily an actor, is the right sort of director for a piece this loose and character-driven. That is, though the plot drifts — it’s not unusual for two distinct conversations to take place at once — there isn’t a single moment that feels unnecessary, and that applies to the ending, which takes a turn that, while unexpected to we on the outside, seems inevitable to the Abbotts. ” - thatsoundscoolblogspot.com

The Tremendous Tremendous Review on nytheatre.com

The Tremendous Tremendous opened recently to great reviews.
